“In 1922, Katherine Tennant, daughter of Judge George G. Tennant, exchanged vows in her Queen Anne home. The wedding was a splendid affair, with palms, autumn foliage, orchids, and yellow chrysanthemums adorning the venue. A string orchestra played as Katherine walked down the aisle in a modest white crepe satin gown with lace details, carrying a bouquet of lilies of the valley and white orchids. I can just imagine the house blooming with love and flowers on that day.” - Nathalie Kalbach -

I love Queen Anne buildings with a turret - those majestic towers attached to them. Perhaps hidden in my little tomboy heart is a princess who yearns to reside in one of those towers, complete with a half-round wooden bench alongside the windows, stacks of books, an easel, art supplies, and of course, a few feline companions… because, let's face it, you've got to have cats in those towers, don't you?
As I wander through historic neighborhoods, I can't help but seek out these architectural gems and let my imagination run wild. What were these turrets used for in their heyday, and what purpose do they serve now? They often present a restoration challenge, with their rounded wood trims and windows, but witnessing the dedication of those who work tirelessly to restore them to their former glory is a true delight.
So, I must ask you:
What would you do with a turret if you had one in your house?
Would it be a reading nook, an artist's sanctuary, or perhaps a whimsical haven for your feline companions? The possibilities are as enchanting as the turrets themselves.

Reading nook, no studio, no quiet room, too many options! I guess one for each floor would have to be the solution.
